8 fun facts of life from a 5-hour hike in Eswatini’s rocky mountains 🏃‍♀️

Honestly, climbing up and down the slippery boulders terrified me. It didn’t help that the guide kept reminding us that if we fall down, it will be difficult to retrieve us. But backing out was also impossible, how could one after walking for hours!

We plowed on as we enjoyed the amazing Gap Falls and Phophonyane Falls in Eswatini (formerly) Swaziland. These were the perfect places to have done this, and the lessons were very clear through the fun ordeal.

1) Success is sweeter when the climb is harder.

2) Be careful with every step you take coz falling down is fast if youre not.

3) You need to depend on others to get to where you want to. You can’t do an exciting adventure alone.

4) Life is always about climbing up and climbing down; nothing is easy.

5) When the road is too smooth, that’s when you often stumble; you get complacent.

6) When walking at a wobbling bridge, look ahead; don’t look down.

7) You won’t enjoy life if you don’t take care of your health. Watch those knees (and weight)!

8) Nothing can match God’s creation. Be grateful of the privilege.

Sharing this walk with an equally adventurous friend who is now in Aleppo while I’m in Juba made this walk 5-years ago a treasure throve of fun memories.

Now, find your walk. A step is always a possibility to lead you in the right direction. There’s more to life than sitting and brooding.
